Opportunities with Medicaid Managed Care in Rural Communites: Lessons Learned from New Mexico

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

While New Mexico and Oklahoma share only a brief border, their healthcare systems and Medicaid systems have dealt with many of the same challenges and opportunities. New Mexico and Oklahoma have similar Medicaid and CHIP enrollment rates and offer services in many rural communities. While New Mexico has a long history of risk-based managed care, in 2014 the state moved to a comprehensive Medicaid Managed Care program named CentennialCare. As part of Centennial Care, UnitedHealthcare has the honor of providing health care coverage for individuals across the State of New Mexico. The health plan’s experience serving the unique needs of the New Mexico market has provided insight on making managed care and health care work in urban, rural, and frontier settings. Join us in a discussion on how managed care has helped New Mexico address access to care, improve health literacy, and contribute to the health of individuals and communities.
